Noodles, floats and toys for the swimming part

A pool is for swimming, and the toys are what get kids and grown-ups into the water. Elite Pool Store carries pool toys alongside the chemicals and parts, so one stop at 6337 US-19 can cover the water test and the fun.

Foam noodles, ring floats and other toys are the usual starting point. Stock changes, so call (470) 945-4340 to ask what's on the shelf before you drive over.

Rinse, dry and keep them out of the sun

Pool water carries chlorine or salt, and both are hard on vinyl and foam over a season. Rinse toys with fresh water after a swim and let them dry before they go back in the bin.

Sun is the other enemy. Foam cracks and colours fade when toys sit in direct sunlight all summer, so a shaded bin or the garage beats the pool deck.

Lift toys out when swimming is done. A floater left in the water can drift into the skimmer or hang around the return line.

Toys are not lifesaving devices

Noodles, floats and rings are for play. None of them replace a life jacket, and none of them replace an adult who's watching the water.

Keep a grown-up within arm's reach of small kids and non-swimmers, and put the toys away when the pool is closed so a floating toy doesn't tempt a child toward the water.

While you're at the store for toys, bring a water sample too. The test is free, and it's the quickest way to know the pool is ready for swimmers.
